Inspection of Fire Dampers:
Before commissioning, fire dampers must be tested through functional tests to verify their operability and to inspect the fire-resistant insulation from the fire-resistant partition. In accordance with Section 8(7) of Decree No. 246/2001 Coll.
Regular operational inspections must be performed at least once a year, unless the manufacturer, design documentation, or fire hazard assessment specifies otherwise.
These inspections must be performed by a qualified person trained by the fire damper manufacturer based on the authorization obtained.
What should the documentation look like?
The operator is required to maintain documentation (a fire damper logbook) in which all work performed on the dampers (inspections, repairs, replacements, etc.) is recorded.
The operational documentation should include accompanying documentation from the manufacturers of all installed fire dampers, containing installation and operating instructions, requirements for inspection, maintenance, and repairs, and a declaration of conformity.
